Mojito Madness at Figmint

Following this brief interlude, stay tuned for a press release about Figmint‘s new mojito series. Because when reading about mojitos, it’s best to listen to The Submarine’s new upbeat hit, You, Me and The Bourgeoisie. And let’s face it, I’m always right.

Now, when I’m entertaining in the summer, I often go the old BC-fruit mojito route. It’s a real crowd-pleaser, and I get to break out my muddler to boot. But can you really call something a mojito if it’s not simply lime, mint, sugar, rum and club soda? I’m thinking we need some new names for these, especially my new classic BC cherry mojito (the tart cherries leave less chance of an oversweet product). How about: The Chancellor?

Figmint Presents Mojito Madness

FigMint Head Bartender David Schneider Puts a Twist on the Classic Mojito with the Best of British Columbia Berries

· Fresh BC Blueberry Mojito

· Fresh BC Blackberry Mojito

· Fresh BC Strawberry Mojito

· Fresh BC Raspberry Mojito

· For the purest, a classic Mojito

And for the real purest the Crystal Mojito

In a classic Boston cocktail shaker add 1 white sugar cube, 1 lime wedge cut in half, 5-7 large pieces of mint and a splash of simple syrup (liquid sugar)

Muddle all ingredients until mixed together, careful not to bruise the mint too much. Add ice to the top of glass. Pour 1.5oz of white rum into mixture. Shake vigorously. Pour all ingredients into a cocktail glass

Stir with spoon until evenly mixed through the glass, top with soda

(All Mojito’s are 1.5 oz’s of alcohol and are $8 each)

Hours: Sunday – Thursday FigMint Lounge open 11am – midnight (kitchen 11pm)

Friday and Saturday FigMint Lounge open 11am – 1am (kitchen midnight)
