Overheard about Nu, “Great restaurant, horrible chairs.”

No longer (press release follows):

Vancouver, BC… Since opening in September 2005, there has been a considerable amount of discussion regarding the chairs at NU. Love ‘em or leave ‘em – they have most certainly been a conversation piece. Now, as the time nears when NU will pass the crown for the “enRoute Best New Restaurant” title, owner Harry Kambolis is pleased to announce a change in chairs.

Taking the current design and augmenting it – the new seating arrangement at NU will leave you with nothing to contemplate but the striking food and view. Stop by NU, try out the chairs and lean back to your heart’s content; you may not want to leave.

Food, view, casual elegance; NU Restaurant + Lounge is Vancouver’s best waterfront location, literally perched above the water, with sweeping views of False Creek, Granville Island and English Bay. With their menu of farm to table casual cuisine giving each seductive flavour its time in the spotlight, NU is the place to enjoy Vancouver from early afternoon to late night – and anything in between.

From Farm to Table – NU is Vancouver’s answer to casual dining with a difference. NU is located at 1661 Granville Street, for reservations please call 604-646-4668.

what does that really say about a place when they put out a press release regarding its chairs. bit of a stretch, i think.

i go for the food, not seating.

fair point. but the chairs were actually a factor in preventing me from dining there more often. you gotta sit to eat, after all.
