Vancouver Restaurant Reviews, Interviews, and News
Hello Readers and Contributors!
It’s nearly time again for one of the premier foodie events in the region so I am passing along the details to you. I confess I have never attended this event (yet), mainly due to scheduling issues, but my predecessor is/was a great fan! I am hoping to make an appearance this year but if you go drop in and post your thoughts here. If anyone wants to submit a review of the event we will be happy to consider it for proper publication too!

Given my dual interests in food and sustainability, I thought this looked interesting and worth passing along from Raincity Grill.
Raincity Grill is forging further on their path of sustainability. Building on the success of their many farm to table initiatives, chef de cuisine Peter Robertson has created a new series of culinary events that promise to be the ultimate in “foodie meets farmer” dining. The series is called Market Mondays and aims to bring local farmers and their products closer to Raincity’s table and Vancouver diners. “Chefs and restaurants can play an important role in strengthening communities by building relationships that connect locals to surrounding farms,” says Robertson.

Looking For Brunch In All The Wrong Places
It’s not easy finding a good traditional style brunch spot. Sure, there are lots of restaurants open between 11 and 2 on the weekends. They say they have brunch because of the time-slot but they don’t have a traditional brunch menu. On a recent outing of the brunch crew it took 3 times before we could locate a restaurant with a proper brunch. At least we thought we had located one.

Recently my partner had her family in town from Taiwan and they are a group of jet-set sophisticated diners. I surprised them one evening by making our culinary destination – a first time visit for me – Market by Jean-George in the new Shangri-La Hotel.

Saturday’s usually finds me, and one of my best friends, at my favorite local diner for breakfast – a ritual at the same location for more than ten years now – I intend to review that establishment here soon. But this weekend my friend was unavailable and my beautiful girlfriend had the morning off from her yoga instructors course, so minus the usual brunch crew my partner and I hit up the Gramercy Grill for brunch.

In another installment of our brunch series, the brunch bunch meets again, this time at The Sutton Place Hotel. The website claims that this is the “best brunch in the city.” This just might be true though as only the second stop on this intermittent brunch tour it might be too soon for us to declare the validity of that statement. However, as you will soon read, this was a very good but pricey offering at $38.95 per adult / $19.50 per child (4-12 yrs).

Wanted pass this last minute dining and wine opportunity along. I haven’t reviewed La Terrazza for eatvancouver.net yet, but I have been there for dinner many times in a former life and was always tremendously satisfied with the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. This particular event looks like it might be fabulous.
If anyone out there does attend, please drop us a line and let us know how it was!

Hello readers! Let me take this opportunity to apologize for, what certainly feels to me, like a long hiatus. Life has been getting in the way of posting but with this submission I expect that we will be back on for regular tasty tales!
We’re starting a Sunday Brunch series and our first adventure began two Sunday’s ago at Beyond Restaurant’s Sunday Brunch buffet. At Beyond they combine breakfast and lunch and give you the option of choosing one or the other or both. If you choose brekkie you get it at a reduced price and if you choose lunch you pay the full price of both regardless of whether you take advantage of the breakfast “side” of the buffet.
Naturally, we chose both!
